Job Description

Senior Community Services Assistant-Substance Use Prevention Educator The Substance Use Prevention Educator (Youth Focus) will play a vital role in implementing and supporting evidence-based strategies to prevent substance use among youth. This position focuses on outreach, educational groups, and engagement with young people, families, schools, and community partners to promote healthy behavior and reduce risk factors associated with youth substance use and mental health. Facilitate SUD prevention workshops, presentations, and activities for youth in schools, community centers, and outreach events. Implement age-appropriate, culturally responsive curricula focused on substance use prevention, coping skills, and decision-making. Build relationships with youth serving organizations, schools, and families to promote program participation. Serve as a positive role model and mentor to youth, fostering trust and open communication. Provide accurate information about the risks of substance use and available resources for prevention and treatment. Advocate for youth needs and contribute to community awareness campaigns. Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and outcomes. Assist with grant reporting requirements and evaluation efforts. Work closely with behavioral health teams, case managers, and public health staff to coordinate services. Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. Available to work weekends and evening hours. Attend and participate in outreach events to promote the Behavioral Health Program, Perform other duties as may be required by the Program Manager. Qualifications (required): Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, education, psychology, guidance and counseling or related field. Three (3) years of experience in case work, group work, individual and group counseling and guidance, social research or community or public relations.
Preferred:
Experience working with youth in educational, outreach, or counseling settings. Knowledge of substance use prevention strategies and youth development principles. Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse community settings. Must pass background check and possess a valid driver's license.
