ABOUT THE ROLE
The Community Trainer is responsible for providing Basic Life Support (BLS) Training (including Adult, Infant, Child CPR for the Lay Responder (or equivalent), CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent, with two-person responder and bag valve mask (BVM) training, First Aid Automated, External Defibrillator (AED), and Emergency Oxygen Administration to YMCA of Western North Carolina Employees. The Trainer will be responsible for all administrative duties to the training provided.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Effectively train Y staff to act competently in emergency situations using knowledge and skills in the specific course being taught: ARC CPR (or equivalent), CPR PRO (or equivalent), First Aid, AED, & 02 Properly prepare for all trainings by having materials, equipment, and other necessary items ready prior to the commencement of training sessions Obtain feedback from branches and incorporate, as necessary, into trainings and/or management of certification processes Track course rosters for each training Get the roster from Daxko Ensure staff receive the pre-work in a timely manner. Break down roster by each employee's branch/dept upon participant sign-in. BLS certifications in a timely manner Distribute original certification cards Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations without direct supervision Professional attire required during all trainings including a YMCA staff shirt and nametag. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Hold and maintain current trainer certifications and prerequisites in the following: CPR, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen Administration with preferred trainer certifications Proficiency in MS Office Experience in training and administration of BLS and other courses Exceptional communication and analytical skills Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Proficiency in MS Office Experience in training and administration of BLS and other courses Exceptional communication and analytical skills
PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The BLS Trainer must be able to physically perform all course skills, assist as needed in emergency situations, move to various locations in and around the training environment, bend or stoop to reach various height levels, lift classroom training equipment - up to 50 lbs., communicate verbally using clear and understandable speech and hear noises and distress signals.
