  • Public Health Educator provides health education resources and programming to help individuals, families, and communities prevent and control communicable diseases.
This position collaborates closely with Communicable Disease Program nursing staff and provides education on a wide range of communicable disease topics including Lyme disease, rabies, syphilis, tuberculosis, measles, and more. The Communicable Disease Public Health Educator will: Conduct in-service and community-based educational programs on communicable disease topics Develop communicable disease educational materials for the public, healthcare providers, community organizations, and local government Attend community meetings and health fairs to understand community issues and build relationships with community members Teach classes or otherwise disseminates health information to school groups, community groups, families, and individuals in a manner consistent with cultural norms

This is a Wake County Public Health position and influenza immunization is a condition of initial and continued employment, subject to compliance with federal law. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Bachelor's degree Two years of job-related experience Equivalent education and experience are accepted Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume. Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Bachelor's degree in Health Communications, English, Public Health, or a related field How Will We Know You're 'The One'? Excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external management Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills required Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel Excellent proof-reading skills and the ability to quickly check documents for accuracy, clarity, and consistency
