This position will also provide one-on-one and small group coaching and mentoring. This position works mostly with internal training on various subjects related to developmental/intellectual disabilities, training mandated or required by state law or regulation, as well as topics related to Agency culture, mission, policy and procedure, etc.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Organizes and delivers new employee orientation program. 2. Evaluates new employee orientation participants and provides feedback to their management team. 3. Serves as a certified trainer for CPR/First Aid and for SCIP-R, to include the full, core and recertification classes. 4. Apply principles of adult learning, including classroom management and various assessment techniques, to create interactive programs that help learners apply skills on-the-job. 5. Evaluates training program effectiveness to ensure it is aligned with Agency's strategic objectives. 6. Identifies areas of improvement for individual, department or agency-wide training and communicates recommendations to supervisors. 7. Identifies opportunities to incorporate individuals from Agency programs, and LEADERS Advocacy group, into training sessions. 8. Distributes, posts, or otherwise disseminates professional literature and information to the appropriate staff. 9. Assists with the maintenance of the Relias (Learning Management System) and all other documentation regarding staff attendance, participation and competency testing for Agency trainings. 10. Maintain organization and cleanliness of training areas, including but not limited to following health and safety protocols for disinfecting SCIP, CPR/First Aid tools and work areas.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 1.
Education and Experience:
a. HS Diploma with 5 years of directly related experience in
OPWDD/OMH
services; OR b. Associate's Degree in relevant field (ie. Human Services) with two years of directly related experience in
OPWDD/OMH
services. 2.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
a. Working knowledge of person-centered planning and service delivery. b. Working knowledge of the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) code of ethics. c. Working knowledge of OPWDD training regulations and requirements of direct care staff. d. Excellent group presentation and facilitation skills. e. Ability to operate audio-visual equipment. f. Experience in using presentation software and technologies. g. The ability to use a variety of learning/training concepts and principles is required along with knowledge of adult learning principles. h. Excellent written communication skills. i. Strong interpersonal skills. 3. Certifications a. Full SCIP-R certified. b. CPR/First Aid certified. c. Must be or become certified to teach First Aid/CPR and SCIP-R d. Must be or become certified to teach Sexuality Educator as it applies to addressing sexuality with people with
IDD/DD. 4.
Verifications and Screenings a. A drug screen prior to the commencement of employment. b. Clearance through County Clerk's Offices of counties lived in for convictions of criminal offenses. 5. Physical and Mental Requirements a. Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. b. Seeing, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, driving, stooping, bending, carrying, stretching, and climbing stairs as well as the ability to perform all required movements required by the SCIP-R curriculum. c. Exercising independent judgment, concentrating, thinking, communicating, interacting with others, managing multiple tasks and coping with stressful situations and deadlines. d. Staying awake and alert while on duty.
