Job Description:
RDNPRO is seeking a dynamic, efficient, and passionate Bilingual Health Educator to join our Health and Wellness team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in promoting health and well-being classes within varying communities in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nutrition, health education, and cultural competency, with specific experience in teaching prevention and management of chronic diseases. CEUs (Continuing Education Units) or certifications in diabetes management are considered a significant plus. Comfort and experience facilitating health education classes of 15 or more participants are highly valued. Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Simple Practice or ECW is also a plus.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging health education programs in both Mandarin or Cantonese and English, focusing on nutrition, wellness, and lifestyle choices. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assess and address clients' health needs, providing personalized guidance and support. Stay informed about the latest developments in dietetics, health, and wellness to ensure the delivery of accurate and up-to-date information. Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and community outreach events to promote healthy living and nutrition education, with a focus on prevention and management of chronic diseases such as overweight, obesity, pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and more. Comfortably and effectively facilitate health education classes of 15 or more participants, creating an interactive and inclusive learning environment. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, fostering a supportive environment for health improvement and behavior change. Translate written materials and communicate effectively in both Cantonese OR Mandarin and English, ensuring clear and culturally sensitive messaging. Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Simple Practice or ECW is a plus. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the organization to provide holistic and comprehensive care for clients.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Health Care Administration or a related field. Certification as a Lifestyle Coach or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) is a plus. Fluency in both Mandarin OR Cantonese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Proven experience in developing and delivering health education programs, preferably in a community or multicultural setting. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of cultural nuances related to nutrition and wellness within the Spanish-speaking community. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with health education software/tools. This is a hybrid remote and on-site position, allowing for flexibility while ensuring engagement with our team and community. CEUs or certifications in diabetes management are a significant plus.
