Job Description

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking to hire two student assistants to participate in the California Pathways into Public Health (Pathways) Internship Program. Pathways is a paid, academic-year internship designed for community college, undergraduate, and graduate students from historically underrepresented and diverse backgrounds who are interested in public health. Interns gain hands-on experience at local health departments (LHDs) across California, reflecting the state's geographic and demographic diversity. The program provides exposure to public health service delivery at the local level, meaningful project work, and ongoing professional development opportunities. Apply today to become a Pathways intern and work with Modoc County Public Health! The Pathways Internship Program 2026-2027 Academic Year cohort will run from September 9, 2026, through May 14, 2027. Interns work fifteen (15) to twenty-nine (29) hours per week during the Fall and Spring session, with an option to work full-time hours during winter break. Interns selected for this internship opportunity will be placed with Modoc County Public Health. All applicants must be available to report in-person to this location as our program is not designed for fully remote placements.
Note:
Our program is not intended or designed to satisfy practicum requirements for graduate students nor academic credit requirements for students at any level. Additionally, we are not able to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or affiliation agreement with a school or university. Please note that the job posting reflects Sacramento as the administrative location for hiring. The actual placement will be with Modoc County Public Health.
