Qualifications Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in health education, biology, or a related field and experience equivalent to one year full-time professional health education work. Substitution of Experience for

Necessary Special Qualifications:
A valid vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions. Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for providing and managing health education programs that help individuals, families and communities maximize and maintain healthy lifestyles. This is the working class in the public health education sub-series. An employee in this class performs a full range of public health education program development, evaluation and consulting work of average difficulty. This class is flexibly staffed with and differs from that of Public Health Educator 1 in that an incumbent of the latter performs at entry level. This class differs from the Public Health Educator 3 in that the incumbent of the latter may provide supervision of Public Health education work or have statewide oversight of a moderate to large public health educational program. Responsibilities Develop SMART goals and objectives for Health Promotion plans and programs as well as reporting for all activities and participate in the process of developing County Performance Plans, goals and objectives. May include budgeting. Develop, present and market Health Promotion programs in a culturally competent manner using a variety of strategies to engage the intended audience and organize community events that meet the community's health-related needs. Serve as the point of contact for health department initiatives, programs and services which may include but are not limited to collaborating with county directors to gather necessary information for the county Board of Health. Interpret data and health policies and recognize trends and areas of improvement and help translate complex health concepts into manageable, community-friendly health programs and information. Lead Health Councils in decision-making processes to help them determine health priorities based on county data. Lead through the County Health Assessment (CHA) process including but not limited to facilitating focus groups, assisting with grants, etc. Partner with local media outlets (radio, TV, newspaper, social media) to promote national health observances, and other departmental projects and activities and encourage coalition building and partnerships within the community. Establish and train youth health groups to positively impact health outcomes for their peers and build and sustain teams to accomplish program goals and objectives (i.e., teen health councils, Primary Prevention Initiative teams, health council subcommittees, serve on
