HSI/ASHI
CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Instructor ensures the safety and preparedness of individuals within the Greater Austin YMCA community. By providing expert instruction and certification in life-saving techniques, this role helps build a culture of safety and responsibility across our programs. The instructor's primary responsibility is to equip participants with the skills and confidence to respond to emergencies effectively, whether in the workplace, at home, or in public spaces. This position is vital in advancing the YMCA's mission of fostering a safe, healthy community, empowering individuals to act decisively in critical moments, and ensuring the well-being of all who engage with our programs. How You Will Make an Impact Plan, organize, and deliver HSI/ASHI-certified CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen, ensuring compliance with AHSI standards and Greater Austin YMCA policies. Provide instructions that motivate and encourage participants, support their learning, and ensuring they meet certification requirements. Observe individual progress and offer constructive feedback to help participants succeed. Complete and maintain all required documentation as outlined by HSI/ASHI and YMCA policies, including certification records and training reports. Set up, maintain, and properly store training equipment. Report any issues or maintenance needs for equipment. Ensure a safe and supportive training environment by monitoring class activities and responding to any accidents or emergencies according to established protocols. Foster a positive and respectful atmosphere, ensuring that all participants feel welcome, valued, and supported throughout the course. Work with other instructors to coordinate and ensure consistent delivery of courses across the organization. Provide in-service training as needed to certified employees throughout the year. Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests. Become an Ambassador of the Y's work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand. Complete other duties as assigned. What You Bring to the Y Must be 18 years of age or older Current HSI certification as an instructor in CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire). Proof of certification and/or credentials required. Previous experience teaching or training individuals in similar courses, or other related instructional experience. Ability to execute training design as provided by HSI. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex material clearly and effectively. Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and environments. Basic computer skills to complete course documentation, maintain records, and use standard office software. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations effectively. Physical Requirements:
The
HSI/ASHI
CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Trainer must be able to perform physical tasks related to the training environment, including standing for extended periods, demonstrating CPR techniques, and performing hands-on instruction in various scenarios. The position requires the ability to move, set up, and store class equipment, which may include lifting and carrying items up to 30 pounds. Trainers must also be able to respond quickly to emergency situations, which may involve physical activity such as assisting with participant needs or performing first aid or CPR. Compensation:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour,
