Afternoon Teacher

We are searching for afternoon teachers for our afternoon preschool and school-age programs. This position is for M-F from 1:00-5:30pm. Experience working with children as well as a passion for learning and growing under our philosophy at Little Explorers is required. Infant/child CPR/First Aid certification is required upon hire. At Little Explorers Discovery School, our mission is to create and maintain a child-centered, inquiry-based environment where children are free to learn about the world through their own, unique lens. Teachers join the children on their learning journey to observe and facilitate an extension of their discoveries.

Develop a loving and caring relationship with students, families and coworkers Maintaining a demeanor and work ethic that is reliable, compassionate and respectful Working with different teachers throughout the week and a willingness to work in either or both of our Crozet locations (located 1/2 mile apart) Maintaining a clean and sanitized classroom environment Communicating with families on a consistent basis Working together with coworkers in a kind, collaborative manner to contribute to the overall LEDS community Contributing to school celebrations and festivals Helping to maintain a clean and safe school environment

Skills:

Familiarity or willingness to learn and adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms per Virginia licensing standards Excellent communication skills Ability to act as a role model for children Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable Certification in child
