Job Description
Overview Trouble Defense LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and professional Firearms & Workplace Violence Prevention Instructor to join our growing team. This is a paid instructional position for individuals who are passionate about safety, education, and helping others build confidence through quality training. As an instructor, you will lead firearms safety courses, workplace violence prevention programs, and active shooter response training for businesses, government agencies, schools, healthcare organizations, and private individuals. The ideal candidate is an experienced instructor who communicates effectively, adapts to different learning styles, and maintains a safe, professional training environment. Responsibilities Conduct firearms safety and marksmanship training for new and experienced firearm owners. Lead workplace violence prevention and active shooter response training for corporate, government, and community organizations. Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises. Teach conflict de-escalation, situational awareness, emergency response procedures, and personal safety strategies. Ensure all training is conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as company safety standards. Evaluate participant performance and provide constructive coaching and feedback. Maintain accurate attendance records, training documentation, and required course paperwork. Assist with the development and improvement of training materials, presentations, and lesson plans. Represent Trouble Defense LLC with professionalism while providing exceptional customer service. Travel to client locations throughout Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, and surrounding areas as needed. Qualifications Previous experience teaching or instructing adults in a classroom or practical training environment. Background in firearms instruction, military service, law enforcement, private security, or a related field. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Ability to confidently instruct groups of varying sizes and experience levels. Knowledge of workplace violence prevention, conflict management, and emergency response principles. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications NRA, USCCA, or other recognized firearms instructor certification. Virginia DCJS Instructor certification or equivalent. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. Experience teaching concealed carry, defensive handgun, active shooter response, or workplace violence prevention courses. Military, law enforcement, or security training experience. Spanish language proficiency is a valuable asset. Candidates who are fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply; however, bilingual ability is preferred and not required. $26.30 - $30.00 per hour
