What You Will Do (Job Duties) This position is primarily responsible for working with school district employees and students in Floyd Public Schools, community members, and community organizations regarding the behavioral health of youth. This person will provide assistance and training to school employees, health education to students and family members, and outreach to the community. This is a full-time year-round position (40 hours per week), which may include time during evenings and weekends. Although there may be some work at a Tri-Area Community Health site, most of the duties for this position will be in the schools and community and daily travel throughout the service area is anticipated (mileage will be reimbursed). An associate degree in human services is required for this position with preference given to those holding a bachelor's degree in human services or education. Two years of work experience in education, health care, or human services is required. Knowledge of behavioral health, positive attitude toward persons with behavioral health concerns, and willingness to work with youth who have behavioral health issues is required. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact professionally and gain trust with culturally diverse individuals, are required. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism is required. Computer skills are required. Access to reliable transportation is required. Successful completion of a satisfactory background check is required. Prior experience in a health educator and/or in an outreach worker or similar role is strongly preferred.
