PURPOSE OF POSITION
To assist in the oversight of Health Services to children, families, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Science/Health related area.
  • Two years of experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Two Years of Experience with Children ages 3-5 years.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, and the ability to collect statistical data for monthly reports.
  • A vehicle to utilize while working in the field, as well as a valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • A physical, CPS and Criminal record check, required at the time of Employment and thereafter as required by Head Start policies and procedures. The Health Manager will assist the Health Coordinator to:
  • Enter medical data into EMR (ChildPlus) database system, ensuring all records are up-to-date and accurate, following the Virginia EPSDT schedule.
  • Follow all HIPAA Laws, regulations, and agency policy and procedures regarding confidentiality.
  • Assist in the enrollment process of students into the program by medically clearing students and providing counseling to parents when necessary, regarding the medical needs of their child(ren).
  • Perform hearing and vision screenings and notify parents of students who may need professional evaluations.
  • Notify management in regard to cleanliness of facilities and classrooms, in relation to public health concerns.
  • Assist classroom teachers in determining the health status of their students, to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Attend management team meetings and provide relevant data regarding Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Review and revise annually, Service Goals and Objectives under advisement/approval of the Director.
  • Attend trainings/conferences as needed.
  • Assist in establishing Community Partnerships to ensure and/or improve the quality of health services for children and families.
  • Monitor immunization schedules for children, ensuring students who are not appropriately immunized follow the CDC recommended catch-up schedule.
  • Collaborate with Family Advocates in ensuring medical/dental follow-up and preventive health care has been completed.
  • Serve on the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to provide health information on children, regarding accommodations that may be needed.
  • Coordinate/monitor health training for staff, parent, and children. To include staff CPR/ First Aid and MAT Certifications.
  • Coordinate classroom activities relevant to health and safety with teaching staff.
  • Make/receive periodic phone calls to/from health providers regarding medical needs of children.
  • Collaborate with family service staff and health providers to conduct medical/dental clinics.
  • Ensure classroom First Aid Kits are complete and will assist with ordering health supplies.
  • Conduct/coordinate Health Advisory Board Meetings at least 3 times per year.
  • Follow-up/review IHP documents and address concerns with parents and staff.
  • Inventory health supplies and deliver to classroom/center upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned by Health Coordinator/Director.
