Full-time benefits Description PeaceHealth is seeking a Diabetes Educator - Endocrinology for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $44.11 - $66.17. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Hiring Bonus may be available! This position is responsible for providing individualized or group, goal directed diabetes management and education for patients and their families according to the Scope of Practice, Standards of Practice, and Standards of Professional performance for Diabetes Educators. Essential Functions Collaboratively develops educational goals, learning objectives and a plan for education content and teaching methods for program participants. Provides diabetes self management training to patients in the clinic or hospital setting. Develops an individualized follow-up plan with each patient. Evaluates effectiveness of educational services provided by measuring attainment of learning objectives. Conducts a follow-up assessment upon completion of the program. Documents patient care in the medical record according to standards. Participate in the development of training materials. Contributes to and participates in continuous quality improvement processes. Evaluates ability to obtain diabetes related medications and testing equipment and related supplies. Maintain and update education materials and keeping current with operational guidelines of monitoring devices and glycemic medication delivery systems. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree Required:
Bachelor of Science in
Nursing or Master's Degree Required:
in a related field of study (for Dietitians). Caregivers who earned their RD license before 1/1/2024 when a bachelor's degree was sufficient will be grandfathered. Experience Minimum of 1 year
Required:
Experience in general medical nursing or dietetics with a variety of chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular, and renal disease and
Preferred:
Experience as diabetes educator in outpatient setting
Credentials Required:
Registered Nurse In state of practice or
Registered Dietitian and Required:
Certified Dietitian - Washington and Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education Specialists CDCES credential required or must be able to obtain within 24 months of employment. Skills Demonstrated ability to affectively teach in a group setting, utilizing a variety of educational methods. (Required) Proficient computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications. (Required) Ability to recognize and prioritize complex data to best serve patient. (Required) Proficient in Microsoft office suite and ability to learn new software skills. (Required) Working Conditions Lifting Frequent moving around work area. Frequent grasping, reaching. Frequent lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. Occasional squatting/ kneeling/ bending. Environmental Conditions Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting or in office environment. Mental/Visual Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
