The Referral Specialist position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Job Duties Under the direction of the Oncology Leadership Team and Health Information Management Leadership, the Referral Specialist performs all aspects of the referral duties, including scheduling appointments and referrals with MD Anderson and all other referral specialists.
Collaborates with physicians, nursing, and other staff to coordinate the delivery and receipt of medical information.
Serves as the leader in the Community Regional Cancer Center North Health Information Management (HIM) department, overseeing the work that is completed, and ensuring adherence to Network HIM policies and procedures.
Experience
Two years of experience in a physician office, HIM department, or medical related position. Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant training program or HIM experience preferred.
Skills
Ability to work with peers in a team situation and follow specific directions.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients.
Functional and technical understanding of applicable scheduling and billing software, Internet, Excel, Word, email, and web based applications.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
