Job Description
Lead Completion Tech is responsible for preserving the confidentiality and security of patient data, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the master patient index and clinical documentation by assisting with prepping, scanning, indexing, and performing quality audits. This job role is instrumental in supporting electronic health record completion, managing record deficiencies, and facilitating the release of legal health records as per policies and procedures. Under minimal supervision, this role coordinates all aspects of the department clerical areas including chart completion, voluntary relinquish process, continuity of care, release of records, medicolegal, prepping, scanning, indexing, auditing, and paper chart destruction. Coordinates the activities of the release of records area of the department which includes phone calls, faxes, printing, emailing, burning charts to CD/thumb drives, and releasing records to portals/MyChart. Assures that the guidelines of HIPAA are followed to reduce the hospital's potential liability in releasing records or protected health information. Assures accurate data is collected for purposes of patient care, medical/paramedical education, legal, administrative, and community health care purposes. Demonstrates extensive knowledge in all medical record functions in the department. Consistently exceeds quality expectations in all areas. Lead Completion Tech is responsible for covering the department for all shifts, including weekends and holidays, when there is a staff shortage or scheduling conflict. Serves as a mentor of other HIMS staff to facilitate a higher level of quality by managing in a changing environment, engaging the workforce, and managing/improving individual performance.
Education Minimum Level of Education Required:
High School completion / GED Additional requirements: Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree in Health Information Management Program with credentials of an RHIT or RHIA or presently working toward obtaining their credentials Licensure/Certification/Registration Medical Terminology.Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required:
5 - 7 years of job related experience Prior job title or occupational experience: N/A Prior specific functional responsibilities: 1-2 years experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Preferred experience: Leadership in Health Information or related medical field, Knowledge of Word & Excel.Similar jobs in Middletown, OH
