Duration:
1-year contract with the possibility of 4 one-year extensions (up to 5 years total) Pay rate: $25/hr
  • $28/hr on W2 Credentialing /
Onboarding Time:
6 8 weeks
Shift Schedule:
Day Shift:
04:00 AM 04:30 PM Compressed tour: 12 hours x 6 shifts + 8 hours x 1 shift (80 hours biweekly) Available 24/7 including holidays (schedule set by DOU Nurse Manager, posted at least 4 weeks in advance)
How Many Shifts Needed Per Month:
Estimated 4,160 regular hours + 200 OT hours per year (base period); approximately 347 regular hours/month
Certifications:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • California Department of Public Health (CDPH) EKG/ECG certification
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience Needed:
Minimum 1 year of work experience as a

Phlebotomy proficiency ECG/EKG performance: proper lead placement, equipment operation, basic rhythm abnormality recognition Basic typing and PC computer skills Ability to document in electronic medical records (VA Vist
A / CPRS
system) Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, turning, dressing patients Patient transport using electric gurneys 1:1 patient observation capability Strong communication, organizational, and independent judgment skills English fluency (read, write, speak, understand) with correct grammar
Responsibilities:
Perform phlebotomy services for inpatient areas (ICU, Direct Observation Unit, Medical Surgical Telemetry) Perform ECGs/EKGs
  • timely, accurate, and communicate urgent/abnormal findings to provider Provide ADL support (bathing, turning, dressing, etc.
) Transport patients using electric gurneys Provide 1:1 patient observation/monitoring as needed Document and order patient care in VistA/CPRS electronic medical record Collaborate with multidisciplinary care team Attend VA orientation, mandatory training (Diversity, Sexual Harassment, Fire Safety, Infection Control) Complete VA Privacy and Information Security training annually Report unusual incidents within 24 hours via VA Form 10-2633 Comply with VALBHS policies, Joint Commission standards, and HIPAA requirements Work beyond regularly scheduled shifts as directed by department head or nursing supervisor Prime Physicians is a physician-led, The Joint Commission (TJC) Accredited, ISO 9001 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised organization.
