Job Description
Hospital Lab Technician I - Microbiology University of California - Los Angeles Health United States, California, Los Angeles May 01, 2026 Description The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at UCLA Health is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Hospital Laboratory Technician I to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting accurate and timely diagnostic testing by assisting with specialized microbiology procedures and specimen processing.
Key duties include:
- Process Ova and Parasite (O&P) specimens.
- Prepare Pneumocystis and fungal stains.
- Handle Mycology and AFB blood specimens for processing.
- Set up and operate the Vitek ID/AST instrument.
- Inoculate microdilution MICs for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Subculture quality control organisms to maintain testing accuracy.
Salary Range:
$27.71/hour - $36.60/hour Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET).
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate resourcefulness in a fast-paced lab setting.
- Working knowledge of clinical microbiology techniques and specimen processing - preferred.
