Senior Perinatal Technician Methodist Hospital Sacramento - 3.6 Sacramento, CA Job Details Full-time $33.34 - $37.77 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications BLS Certification Basic life support Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Job Summary and Responsibilities The incumbent is a member of the healthcare team who is accountable for patient care supportive services for the Family Birth Center under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure. As our Sr. Perinatal Tech, you will be a vital member of the healthcare team, accountable for providing patient care supportive services for the Family Birth Center under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Every day, you will perform essential supportive services that directly contribute to the safe and effective care of patients and their families within the Family Birth Center. This includes a variety of tasks crucial for patient comfort, unit efficiency, and assisting the nursing staff in delivering high-quality care. You may also access medication storage areas in accordance with your job function and hospital policy, adhering strictly to established protocols. To be successful in this role, you will possess relevant experience in patient care support, ideally within a perinatal, maternal-child health, or acute care setting. You will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of empathetically interacting with patients and collaborating effectively with the nursing team. A meticulous attention to detail, adherence to hospital policies (including those related to medication storage), and a commitment to providing compassionate and efficient supportive care will be essential in contributing to a positive experience for families in the Family Birth Center.
Technical Skills:
Is competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures. Pre-operative procedures include the following. Practices aseptic technique in preparing for and assisting with surgical procedures and ensures sterile field integrity is maintained. Performs hand scrub according to unit structure standards. Intra-operative procedures include the following. Sets up and maintains back table in sterile organized manner. Obtains/maintains adequate supplies for surgeon, anticipates needs and is active participant in surgical procedure. Performs count of sponges, needles, and instruments at the direction of the circulating RN. Other duties as directed by surgeon or circulating RN with the scope of their practice. Post-operative procedures include the following. Isolates sharps to facilitate safe handling by assistants. Assists with disposal of all used supplies, sharps, linen and waste, using Body Substance Isolation procedure. Takes used equipment to cleaning area. Helps ready the room for the next case. Demonstrates ability to assist all team members in the performance of procedures. Performs job duties of unit assistant as directed to meet needs of patient/unit. Demonstrates proficiency on Health Information Systems, supply orders, departmental data/reports relating to job duties.Documentation:
Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.Organizational Skills:
Uses appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills.Communication:
Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette. Uses medical terminology accurately.Self Development:
Is accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development. Participates in relevant inservice programs and continuing education activities.Patient Safety:
Applies safety precautions and principles to patient care. Includes all National Patient Safety Goals. Job Requirements Two (2) years OR/OB Scrub/Perinatal Tech Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association. Demonstrated competence with the computerized documentation system.
