Chronic Patient Care Technician Oakland Dialysis Lauderdale Lakes, FL Job Details Full-time 4 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Computer operation Spanish Customer communication Customer service Working with individuals with chronic illnesses English High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Chronic Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Dialysis Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused Chronic Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our dialysis team. The PCT plays a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis treatments to patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) in an outpatient setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT is responsible for preparing patients and equipment for treatment, monitoring patients during dialysis, and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Prepare dialysis machines and treatment stations according to facility policies and procedures. Obtain and record patient vital signs, weight, and treatment information before, during, and after dialysis treatments. Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Cannulate arteriovenous (AV) fistulas and grafts according to training and facility protocols. Monitor patients throughout treatment and promptly report any changes in condition to the Registered Nurse. Assist patients with comfort, mobility, and activities related to dialysis treatment. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment. Follow infection control practices and safety standards at all times. Document patient treatment data accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Disinfect and maintain dialysis equipment according to established protocols. Provide excellent customer service and support to patients and their families. Participate in staff meetings, in-service education, and quality improvement activities. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Current Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification within required timeframes. Previous dialysis or patient care experience preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or assist patients as needed. Basic computer and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Minimum one (1) year of chronic outpatient dialysis experience. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR). Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
