Patient Care Technician-Preop 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 5151 Winter Garden Vineland Road, Windermere, FL 34786 Full-time Healthnet Services, Inc 1,464 reviews Full-time Position Summary The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assist with patient care activities, while maintaining strong communication with the healthcare team. As well as promote physical comfort, emotional support, and safety for the patients. Essential Functions Perform EKGs and Blood Glucose monitoring, if applicable with the supervision of the RN. Ensures the anesthesia provider prior meets with the patient prior to being taken to the O.R. Regularly check patients' blood pressure, heart rate, and pulse. Monitoring vital signs helps assess patients' overall health and detect any changes and report to the RN. May assist registered nurses (RNs) by monitoring patients and providing basic care. Help patients with basic activities such as changing clothes and using the restroom. Assist in turning, repositioning, and transferring patients between beds, wheelchairs, and seats. Strong communication skills with patients, families, teammates, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. Participates in the orientation and training of new Patient Care Technicians. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence in skills identified for the position. Promotes physical comfort, emotional support, and safety for patients and their families. Respects the patient's right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. Maintains, stocks, and replenishes supplies for both pre-operative and PACU departments. Notifies appropriate staff to order supplies as needed. Operates, cleans, and cares for equipment according to procedure. Other Related Functions Maintains a neat and organized environment that promotes safety. Maintains attendance according to facility guidelines and policies. Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness per departmental procedures and requests time off according to the established procedure. Attends unit-based staff meetings and reviews minutes for any meetings missed. Strives to be professional, courteous, helpful, and cooperative, interacting with all patients, families, visitors, and employees in a mature, positive manner. Follows Infection Prevention and Control guidelines. Notify Clinical Manager of any suspicion of a possible cross contamination. Complies with OSHA and Joint Commission standards, HIPAA regulations, and all facility policies and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned by the manager. Education/Training High School Diploma or GED required. Maintains professional competency through appropriate continuing education. Licensure/Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) Experience Two (2) plus years of experience Multi-Specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center or Outpatient facility, preferred. Building strong relationships with Physicians. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
