Job Description
Overview Riverside Healthcare is looking for a compassionate and motivated Imaging Assistant to support our Imaging Technologists in providing exceptional care. The Imaging Assistant is responsible for assisting with basic patient care, transportation, and clerical duties within the assigned imaging department. This role is crucial in making a positive first impression on our patients and ensuring a seamless, efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will uphold departmental protocols and contribute to a positive patient experience.
Essential Duties Patient Interaction:
Greet and escort patients to and from scan rooms using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) principles. Provide brief explanations to patients regarding their scans, including the type of scan and expected duration.Transportation:
Safely transport patients to and from the Emergency Department (ED), central waiting areas, and other hospital locations, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Utilize patient-safe transfer equipment as necessary during transportation.Patient Positioning:
Assist in moving patients from carts, beds, or wheelchairs to scan tables using proper body mechanics. Assist in moving patients with the correct lift equipment. Position patients comfortably on the scan table with the use of pillows, wedges, and blankets.Patient Safety:
Adhere to standard precautions for all patient contact, including proper hand hygiene, the use of gloves, and wearing gowns or masks when appropriate. Ensure patients connected to oxygen continue their orders as required throughout the imaging process.Clerical Support:
Assist in obtaining thorough medical histories from patients and entering this information into EPIC. Support Imaging Technologists by checking lab results, pregnancy tests, iodine allergies, and previous imaging for comparison, and communicate any potential issues.Safety:
Follow radiation and MRI safety practices to protect patients, staff, and yourself within the department.Technologist Support:
Under the direct supervision of a technologist, assist with entering information into EPIC regarding IV starts, assessments, and removals with verbal readback. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure. Non-essential Duties Assist with clerical tasks such as filing, answering phones, and managing patient flow within the department. Participate in department meetings and training sessions as required. Responsibilities Preferred Experience Good computer and keyboarding skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely. Required Licensure/Education High school diploma required.
