EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Job Qualifications Valid Illinois EMT-B Certification. Valid U.S. Driver's License required Current AHA Basic Life Support certification. Job Functions Under the direction of the area leadership, the purpose of this position is performing as an EMT-B in a emergency, non-emergency and inter-facility setting. This position allows EMTs to work in both settings on a set rotation. Employees in this classification perform highly skilled, technical level work. Position is responsible for providing emergency medical services. The position provides medical services, including response, assessment, treatment as authorized by SMOs, and transport. The employee must follow all policies as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures. Performs related duties as assigned. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requires the ability to use computer software for operational and clinical tasks. Requires the ability to process information and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Physical Ability:

tasks involve the ability to exert very heavy physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials.

Scheduling:

24-hour rotating schedule depending on rotation.

Environmental Factors:

tasks may risk exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions, strong odors and/or smoke, strong and/or toxic chemicals, and dust or pollen. The process consists of a leadership interview. Candidates given a conditional offer of employment. Certification-appropriate system entrance skills/written testing will be required for out of system applicants.
