Job Description

Franciscan Health Munster Campus 701 Superior Ave Munster, Indiana 46321 The ED Technician I provides direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician, of all age groups from neonate through geriatric. This position may assist with patient transfers, repositioning, transporting of patients, obtaining supplies, or specimens, and any other duties deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Perform cardiac monitoring duties, like EKGs, to ensure accurate monitoring of patient condition. Gather equipment to start an IV when requested (secure IV pump, tubing, IV start kit, IV catheter). Intervene with CPR and first assist if necessary. Label and transport specimens to the laboratory. Utilize knowledge/experience of the hospital safety plan, and act accordingly during codes and drills. Orient patient/family to surroundings and instruct on how to call for assistance. Qualifications Required High School Diploma/GED None Emergency Department OR Enrolled in a Franciscan EMS Training Program with successful completion of their Emergency Department Clinical Rotations and completion of ED Tech Skills. Enrolled in related major Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association
