Position Overview:
Responsive Centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Technician to join our team. The TMS Technician will be responsible for administering TMS treatments to patients with depression and other mental health conditions, under the supervision of a physician. This position involves direct patient interaction and ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and supportive care throughout their treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
TMS Treatment Administration:
Administer TMS treatments to patients following established protocols and guidelines. Ensure accurate placement of the TMS device and monitor patients throughout the treatment session to ensure comfort and safety. Adjust treatment parameters as directed by the prescribing physician, ensuring patient safety and treatment efficacy. Record treatment session data, including treatment parameters, patient response, and any side effects or concerns.
Patient Interaction and Support:
Welcome and engage with patients, explaining the TMS procedure, answering questions, and providing reassurance. Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects during and after treatment, alerting the physician or nurse of any concerns. Provide ongoing support and education to patients throughout the course of their TMS treatment, addressing any concerns or questions. Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor while interacting with patients, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
Equipment and Safety Management:
Operate and maintain the TMS equipment, ensuring that it is functioning correctly and safely. Conduct daily equipment checks, reporting any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during treatment, including proper use of protective equipment and monitoring of patients. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized treatment area.
Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately document each TMS session in the patient's medical record, including settings, duration, and any observed reactions. Report any concerns, side effects, or unusual responses to the supervising physician or nurse. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations regarding patient information.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the clinical team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and medical assistants, to ensure coordinated care. Participate in team meetings and communicate patient progress and any concerns with the medical staff. Provide feedback to the clinical team regarding patient tolerance, session outcomes, and any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; an associate's degree or certification in a related healthcare field preferred. Experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in mental health, is preferred. Prior experience with TMS or other medical technology is a plus but not required; on-the-job training will be provided. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to interact with patients in a compassionate and supportive manner. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols and safety procedures. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic health records (EHR) and data entry.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and move equipment as necessary.
