Job Description

What We're Looking For:
  • Calm under pressure, reliable, and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
  • At least 1 year of experience as an EMT
Preferred:
High School Diploma or GED
    Required:
    o Nationally certified EMT o State of Louisiana Licensed EMT o Valid LA Class D Chauffeur's License o BLS - Basic Life Support o Crisis Prevention training (within 6 months of hire) o Clean driving record
    • Knowledge of Louisiana traffic laws and emergency driving techniques
    • Ability to follow instructions, read traffic signage, and safely transport individuals and materials
    Preferred:
    Familiarity with local territory layout

    What You Will Do:
    Provide first aid treatment or basic life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings and during transport between campuses. Perform duties in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
    • Respond promptly and calmly to emergency and non-emergency calls.
    • Assess and prioritize patient care based on injury or illness.
    • Administer CPR, oxygen, oral glucose, and utilize AEDs as needed.
    • Assist paramedics with airway management and ventilation.
    • Treat trauma with appropriate splinting and spinal immobilization.
    • Complete patient care and insurance documentation thoroughly and timely.
    • Operate an emergency vehicle safely and in compliance with all relevant laws and hospital guidelines.
    • Monitor communication devices and coordinate non-emergent transport requests.
    • Maintain ambulance cleanliness, stock levels, and decontamination protocols.
    • Represent the organization at public events while on duty.
    • Assist in the Emergency Department as needed.
    • Perform additional duties to ensure smooth ambulance transport operations.
