Job Description

Job Requirements We are seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician II to join the Kaufman Infusion Center at UM Upper Chesapeake Hospital in Bel Air, MD. This role, Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM with no nights or weekends, requires previous phlebotomy experience. Under the supervision of nursing staff, the technician provides direct patient care including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, blood draws, IV placement, and assistance with activities of daily living. Responsibilities also include patient safety promotion, wound care, specimen handling, EKG operation, and collaboration with the healthcare team to support patient comfort and optimize outcomes. The role involves mentoring junior staff, participating in patient rounding, responding to alarms, and adhering to safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment. Work Experience The ideal candidate for the Patient Care Technician II position must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. While Patient Care Technician certification is preferred, candidates should have a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks in high-pressure environments are essential. Proficiency in computer systems and demonstrated competency in performing delegated nursing tasks—such as obtaining accurate blood glucose measurements and applying aseptic techniques—are required, alongside a commitment to addressing the diverse needs of patients with professionalism and respect.
