Job Description

The City of Manistee (EOE ) is offering an exciting opportunity for immediate full-time employment as a Firefighter/EMT. In addition to establishing an eligibility list for future openings, we offer a competitive salary ranging from $57,942 (19.89/hour) to $67,80 (23.28/hour with paramedic license) based on experience. Our employees enjoy generous annual increases and a comprehensive benefits package that includes a MERS Defined Benefit pension plan, health, dental, optical, life insurance, paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation. This position requires a 56-hour work week, consisting of 48 hours on duty followed by 96 hours off. While preference will be given to experienced Firefighter Paramedic candidates, paramedic certification is not a requirement. Successful candidates will need to pass a drug screening, physical fitness test, oral interview, psych test, and a reference or security check. Qualified applicants must hold a valid State of Michigan driver's license and: A current Michigan Firefighters Training Council Certification as a State Certified Firefighter I & II and a current EMT or Paramedic License from the State of Michigan. Applicants currently enrolled in paramedic classes will be considered. Must life within 95 miles straight-line radius of Manistee Fire Department. As a condition of continued employment: Where necessary, new hires will be required to successfully complete a paramedic program at the employers' expense and become licensed as paramedics within two years.
