Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare within a school-based health setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a passion for working with children and adolescents. This role offers the opportunity to deliver primary care services, manage acute and chronic conditions, and promote health education in a dynamic educational environment. The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of students by providing accessible, high-quality healthcare services aligned with best practices and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments for students across various age groups, children, and adolescents. Diagnose and treat common illnesses, injuries, and acute conditions using evidence-based practices. Administer vaccinations, perform immunizations, and provide health counseling tailored to individual student needs. Manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and behavioral health issues through ongoing monitoring and coordination with families and school staff. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans, discharge planning, and referral processes for specialized services like behavioral health or specialty clinics. Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate students, parents, teachers, and staff on health promotion topics including nutrition, injury prevention, mental health awareness, and disease management. Participate in school health initiatives such as wellness screenings, triage during emergencies, and participation in clinical research or quality improvement projects related to school health programs. Skills Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic for documentation and patient management. Experience with pediatric care including working with children with developmental disabilities or special needs. Knowledge of immunization protocols, CPT coding for procedures, ICD coding for diagnoses (ICD-10), and billing practices related to outpatient services. Ability to perform clinical procedures such as suturing and phlebotomy Familiarity with acute care environments including emergency room experience or hospital medicine settings; Level I or Level II trauma center experience is advantageous. Strong understanding of public health principles relevant to school-aged populations including nutrition counseling and disease prevention strategies. Excellent communication skills for effective patient care delivery across diverse populations; experience working with individuals with disabilities or in assisted living settings is preferred. $64,952.79 - $78,222.71 per year
