Patient Care Technician I - Full Time, Days Variable hours, Labor and Delivery, Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center

Responsible for assisting doctors/nursing staff in ensuring that the basic needs of each patient are met. Daily tasks might include things like cleaning the patient, transferring the patient and monitoring vital signs and health.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Assists nurses with patient activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and transfers 2. Obtains and records vital signs, weights, and heights 3. Assist nurses during pushing phase to set up delivery tables and hold patient as needed. 4. Performs high level disinfection and low level disinfection for surgical instruments. 5. Performs EKG's, phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring 6. Observes and reports changes in patients' condition to the RN 7. Maintain supplies in Labor rooms, PACU, Triage, and Antepartum rooms. 8. Assist with Breast pump set-ups for postpartum patients. 9. Assist with maintenance and cleaning of Labor and Delivery euipment as needed. 10. Other related duties as assigned.

Required:

1. HS Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

1.Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written 2. Patient, compassionate, and nurturing nature 3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses in fact paced environment 4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems 5. Experience with Breastfeeding education 6. Experience with working in Postpartum or Labor & Delivery unit.
