Public Health Technician I Chautauqua County Department of Health Full-Time | Competitive Civil Service Position | Excellent Benefits Start Your Career in Public Health The Chautauqua County Department of Health is seeking motivated individuals interested in protecting and improving community health through environmental health programs. This entry-level trainee position offers an excellent opportunity to begin a rewarding career in public health and environmental health inspection. The Public Health Technician I position is a one-year training appointment designed to provide hands-on experience and professional development in environmental health. Upon successful completion of the training period, employees may be promoted to Public Health Technician II without further examination. What You'll Do Under the supervision of experienced Public Health Engineers, Sanitarians, and Public Health Technicians, you will: Participate in structured training and educational assignments Learn environmental health laws, regulations, and inspection procedures Observe and assist with environmental health inspections and investigations Gain experience in public health programs that help protect community health and safety Develop technical skills related to environmental health compliance and enforcement Perform increasingly responsible duties as knowledge and experience grow Complete related assignments as required Why Join Chautauqua County? Additionally, candidates must successfully complete a New York State Department of Health-approved Public Health Training Course within two years of appointment. Appointment Information This position is being filled on a provisional basis pending the administration and establishment of an eligible list from a future Civil Service examination for this title.
Pay:
$22.94 - $29.52 per hour
