Works under the manager's direction to perform advanced clerical and administrative duties in support of the manager, supervisors, and nurses within the Community Health Access and Navigation in Tennessee (CHANT) program, including medical billing, data entry, scheduling, and the analysis and processing of financial, statistical, and program data, while maintaining records and exercising initiative and independent judgment.
Pay Grade:
43 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of experience in clerical, bookkeeping, data processing, or statistical work; and a high school diploma or GED; OR Three (3) years of experience in clerical, bookkeeping, data processing, or statistical work; and one (1) year of college study (30 semester hours or 36 quarters). Medical billing experience is preferred.
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities Processes medical billing claims and ensures accuracy of supporting documentation. Performs basic accounting functions, including invoice review, petty cash management, and submission of check requests and requisitions. Orders program supplies and maintains inventory and supply records. Performs data entry and prepares correspondence, reports, and memoranda. Provides customer service by responding to inquiries and addressing concerns. Reviews and processes records and documents for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures. Compiles data from multiple sources to prepare routine reports. Maintains organized filing systems and ensures proper records management (electronic and hard copy). Supports office operations, including monitoring equipment, maintaining supplies, collaborating with staff, and participating in public health emergency preparedness activities. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSAs Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and basic accounting principles. Knowledge of business English, mathematics, and medical terminology. Skill in operating office equipment and using computer systems. Ability to plan, organize, and manage workflow while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse populations. Ability to analyze and resolve problems, work independently with minimal supervision, and exercise sound judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Office ® (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and other County software applications. Special Requirements Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one upon date of employment. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment. Work will require travel to locations outside of the office.
