Building Principal or Designee Purpose:
Under the direction of the supervisor and the school nursing supervisor, assist the school nurse in providing routine and technical health services to students as needed or scheduled. Assist with the tracking and maintenance of student health records.
Essential Functions:
1. Provides care to students based on delegation of tasks from RN, such as administering oral medications, care of students with diabetes, seizure disorders, asthma, ADD, autism, anaphylaxis and allergies. 2. Works collaboratively with building registered nurse regarding other student health concerns, health records, and building/district issues including district health assessments. 3. Assist students with first aid and health concerns as needed. 4. Collaborates with and assists school staff to meet the health, safety, developmental and educational needs of students. 5. Attends to hygiene/personal care needs of students. 6. Distributes emergency care plans to building staff and obtain staff signatures upon receipt of plans. 7. Maintains all the health room supplies and notifies School Nurse Supervisor when supplies are low and need to be filled. 8. Tracks and manages student certificate of immunization forms and assess if records are up to date. Collects immunization information from Washington State Child Profile system. 9. Maintains student health cards, student health files, medication logs, and daily logs. Enters required data into WESPaC student data system. 10. Contacts parent/guardian if health information is needed or needs to be updated. 11. Communicates any student health concerns directly to school nurse and/or principal. Seeks guidance as needed. 12. Assist with student health screenings to include hearing and vision screening, as well as tracking data. 13. Tracks all student accident reports. 14. Follows universal precautions and infection control procedures at all times. Instruct others as necessary to minimize the risk of transmitting contagious or infectious diseases. 15. Maintains the cleanliness of the health rooms. 16. Other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operations of the school and health services. Professional Qualifications:
I. High school diploma or GED 2. Completion of significant course-work in a health-care related field; Medical Assistant training or certification preferred. 3. Successful experiences working in a health care profession, preferably with children, in an educational setting, or other service agency for school age children. 4. First-Aid/CPR/ AED certification required. 5. Must demonstrate appropriate use of written and oral English. 6. Proficiency with office equipment and desk top computer programs to include MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
I. Ability to lift and or physically move students. 2. Work in a confined environment. 3. Possible exposure to body fluids.
Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Benefits:
School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
Retirement Eligibility determination:
A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
