Job Description

1 Vacancy
  • Kanawha County This Accounting Technician 3 position is responsible for performing accounts receivable and payable functions within the Dept. of Health. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring the Bureau's financial accounting system(s).
  • Reviewing financial transactions from a variety of sources, analyzing and reconciling accounts receivable/payable records, and preparing standard reports.
  • Applying GAAP, HIPAA, applicable state and federal fiscal guidelines, and agency fiscal policy in recording financial activity in OASIS and various subsystems.
  • Reviewing accounts receivable/payable invoicing documents to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Determining appropriate corrective action to take when confronted with accounts receivable/payable discrepancies and taking initiative to assure that corrective action is completed.
  • Interacting with vendors, state agencies, and other units regarding accounts receivable/payable invoices and developing a solution for accounts receivable/payable discrepancies.
  • Making payments using a state issued purchasing card.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Training:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
Experience:
Three years of full time or equivalent part time paid bookkeeping, accounting or related experience.
Substitution:
Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from an regionally accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of three semester hours equals six months experience; OR Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience through an established formula.
