Job Description
Summary:
The Simulation Center Technician provides operational, technical, and administrative support for delivery of all simulation activities of the Health Science Simulation Center for the College's Health Science programs. This is a full-time position and reports to the Health Science Simulation Center Program Director. This is a full-time, benefited, 11-month position.Responsibilities:
The Simulation Technician is responsible for operational, technical, and administrative support necessary to deliver high-quality simulation-based education using Health Science Simulation Center resources. Effective collaboration with the Dean, Simulation Program Director, Health Science faculty, other users, and all learners is required to help the Simulation program meet standards of best practice in healthcare simulation. Set up, program, and operate simulation scenarios in alignment with faculty objectives, including preparing equipment, environments, and computer-based simulations. Provide real-time technical support during simulation activities by troubleshooting issues, managing audio-visual systems, and ensuring sessions run smoothly for recording, debriefing, and assessment. Assist faculty and support student learning by demonstrating equipment use, offering technical instruction, and contributing to effective simulation delivery and debriefing using evidence-based practices. Apply understanding of simulation-based education pedagogy to support effective learning experiences, including facilitating debriefing processes, implementing evidence-based simulation practices, and contributing to scenario design that promotes experiential learning. Collaborate with faculty, program directors, staff, and external partners to develop, implement, and support simulation activities across Health Science programs. Train faculty and staff on simulation equipment and processes, and provide ongoing laboratory and operational support for simulation-related instruction and initiatives. Coordinate and schedule simulation activities, including departmental, institution-wide, and community-based events, while maintaining accurate electronic records and documentation. Support accreditation requirements by assisting with reporting, evaluations, and surveys related to simulation activities. Maintain, track, and troubleshoot simulation equipment and inventory to ensure readiness for all activities. Oversee the setup and cleanup of simulation environments and ensure proper functioning of all tools and systems. Participate in training related to simulation education, technology, and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned in support of simulation operations and Health Science programs.Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in a technical or Health Sciences related field Minimum two years' experience working with customers/clients and tracking and recording data Ability and willingness to learn to operate high-fidelity and medium-fidelity simulation manikins, control room equipment, debriefing equipment, and software (training will be available) Proficiency in Word processing, Google, database and/or other related software applications Knowledge of office equipment such as computer, printer, fax machine, scanner, photocopier Ability to prioritize independently and work with guidance Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced, technical and changing environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work well with people from a variety of backgrounds and age levels A willingness to promote and participate in a positive, customer oriented, work environmentDesired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a related health science field One year of experience in simulation-based education or healthcare simulation Experience with high-fidelity patient simulators (e.g., Gaumard) Familiarity with audio-visual systems and recording/IT equipment Background in healthcare or understanding of clinical educationWork Environment:
A typical work environment is a classroom, office, or simulation lab setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal workday, however, occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions.Physical Demands:
Employees are regularly required to sit, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computers, feel, and reach with their hands and arms. Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and work in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending).To Apply:
