Pay Range:
$31.11 - $43.64 The Clinic Supervisor of Optometry is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all day-to-day operations at the facility. This includes the scheduling and delivery of optometric care, staffing, and all other infrastructure necessary for clinic operations. The Clinic Supervisor coordinates with other departments in the delivery of healthcare services. In addition, coordinates with other clinical operations and managers on various projects. Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job Directs administrative and collaborates with professional staff in the planning, development, and implementation of day-to-day clinic operations; develops administrative policies and procedures that enhance the ability of staff to optimally perform their duties; collaborates with providers, integrates processes with consortium wide optometry clinics, and supports the clinic team; and ensures appropriate communication with staff at all levels. Functions as the clinic liaison with patients, other SEARHC departments, private health providers, Native agencies, Tribal governing bodies, city governments, and other appropriate community agencies. Addresses patient and other consumer concerns; incorporates customer feedback into the development of clinic policies and procedures and planning; and coordinates with local Optometrist- Lead and Director of Specialty Services to incorporate feedback on clinical services into health care planning. Implements and monitors objectives consistent with the SEARHC Strategic Health Plan, Key Performance Indicators, Population Health, HRSA, and DNV. Utilizes continuous quality improvement tools to address operational issues and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards. Participates or leads quality improvement initiatives. Optimizes personnel and financial resources, monitors the annual budget and capital requests for the clinic in collaboration with the Clinical Director of Optometry Services and Director of Specialty Service and ensures efficient delivery of health care services within allotted expense budget. Facilitates staff development and education through the proactive identification of training needs, coordinates participation in appropriate Consortium wide training opportunities, identifies and addresses unmet needs through the identification of outside resources or the development and implementation of appropriate activities. Ensures adequate staffing levels and patient access targets are met. Coordinates local Field Eye Clinics, Ophthalmology Clinics and Intermittent Provider scheduling and travel arrangements. Provides direct patient care as an optometry assistant including optical and imaging duties. Able to train and review competency of optometry staff. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides direct or indirect oversight of all optometry support staff (Optometric assistants, PCCs), functions and programs for eye care in coordination with the local Lead Optometrist.
Additional Details:
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
- Associate degree in health-related field or business field
- Relevant work experience of 2 years process improvement may be substituted for degree.
- Certified Optometric or Ophthalmic Assistant preferred.
- BLS at hire or must obtain within 3 months of hire. Experience Required
- 1 year clinical experience in Optometry and/or Ophthalmology office setting.
- 1 year supervisor or lead experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
- Fluent knowledge of clinic practice management including staffing and clinic organization, scheduling, and patient flow.
- Working knowledge of the revenue cycle, facilities management, and other infrastructure areas impacting the clinic.
- Knowledge of TJC, HRSA, CMS, HIPAA, and/or other governing body regulations.
- Knowledge of liability and risk management principles.
