DIRECTOR-FINANCIAL SERVICES-ARO-CLINICAL-TRIALS
The University of Alabama at
Birmingham General Responsibilities:
The Director-Financial Services-ARO-Clinical Trials will develop, implement, and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the accurate budgeting, invoicing, payment reconciliation, and financial reporting of clinical trials. The Director will play a critical role in optimizing financial performance, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, sponsor requirements, and federal regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to the CTO leadership, investigators, and research teams.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Develop policies, processes, tools and guidance to assist departmental research budget personnel with decreasing turnaround times for finalization of clinical trial budgets. 2. Create clinical trial budgeting analytics for both leadership and department personnel. 3. Facilitate clinical trial budgeting work groups to improve training and awareness. 4. Assess and monitor ancillary clinical trial research fees ensuring fees have adequate justification. 5. Lead the clinical research revenue cycle, including timely and accurate invoicing and collections from sponsors based on milestones or patient visits. 6. Monitor actual trial expenditures against the negotiated budget, manage accounts payable (e.g., to sites or vendors), and proactively address cost overruns or variances. 7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Pay Range:
$104,045 - $169,075
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. An advanced degree (e.g., Master's, PhD, etc.) would be preferable.
