- Birmingham, AL Our client is a nationally recognized design-build and modular construction organization specializing in healthcare facilities.
They partner with major healthcare systems across the United States to deliver complex healthcare construction projects including ambulatory surgery centers, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, medical office buildings, primary care clinics, and free-standing emergency departments. They are seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead large-scale healthcare construction programs with full operational and financial accountability. This individual will oversee multiple project teams and Program Managers while managing program performance across schedule, budget, safety, quality, and profitability metrics. This role requires experience leading complex healthcare construction programs exceeding $100M in actively managed contract revenue, along with experience in program operations, financial management, scheduling, and executive-level client management.
Responsibilities:
Own full program P&L responsibility with direct accountability for profitability, forecasting, margin performance, and financial outcomes across assigned healthcare construction programs. Lead multiple large-scale healthcare construction projects and oversee Program Managers, Senior Project Managers, and project delivery teams. Develop and maintain executive and C-suite-level client relationships with healthcare systems, owners, and key stakeholders. Evaluate, build, restructure, and optimize program team structures to support operational scalability and project execution needs. Lead intervention efforts for programs experiencing financial, schedule, operational, or client-related challenges and restore projects to stable performance. Establish and improve operational standards related to scheduling, procurement, financial reporting, project controls, and stakeholder communication. Present Business Case Reviews and program performance updates to Executive Leadership. Drive project pursuit evaluation, operational capacity planning, and program growth initiatives. Manage performance and development of Program Managers and project leadership teams. Ensure compliance with company safety standards, quality standards, and project management procedures across assigned programs. Collaborate with internal construction, engineering, manufacturing, scheduling, procurement, and executive teams to support project delivery. Lead contract negotiations, claims management, dispute resolution, and risk mitigation efforts. Implement standardized program management procedures and project controls across assigned programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Data Analytics, or related field. 10+ years of experience in construction program management, project management, or operations leadership. Demonstrated experience managing one or more construction programs totaling more than $100M in actively managed contract revenue. Experience within healthcare construction, commercial construction, design-build construction, modular construction, prefabrication construction, or mission critical project environments. Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining executive and C-suite-level client relationships. Experience building, restructuring, and managing program teams. Demonstrated experience stabilizing underperforming or high-risk construction programs involving financial, schedule, operational, or client-related challenges. Experience presenting Business Case Reviews, operational updates, and financial performance reports to Executive Leadership teams. Experience managing project profitability, forecasting, budgeting, and margin performance. Advanced scheduling experience using MS Project, Primavera P6, and Smartsheet. Advanced Microsoft Excel experience for financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, and operational analytics. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam. Experience leading contract strategy, negotiations, claims management, and dispute resolution efforts. Ability to travel up to 25% based on project and program needs.
Compensation:
Base salary in the 150k
