238-day contract (12 month) Salary range: $68,750.00 - $92,018.00 (Based on years experience and education level) 10 days vacation per year of employment (cumulative to 20 days) 12 days sick leave per year of employment (cumulative to 90 days) 2 days personal leave per year Teacher retirement as well as benefitsPERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
(Required): Possession of a valid Arkansas license by the appropriate credentialing agency Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related mental health field Experience working with students with mental health needs, including those receiving special education services Experience developing and delivering professional development Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and threat assessment Ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel, families, and community providers Must be able to clear Arkansas State Police, FBI, and DHS background checksPOSITION SUMMARY
The School-Based Mental Health Coordinator oversees and coordinates comprehensive mental health services across the district to ensure students have access to high-quality, effective, and developmentally appropriate care. This role integrates mental health services within the educational setting and supports a safe, supportive learning environment. School-employed mental health professionalsincluding school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and, in some cases, school nursesare specially trained in the interconnectivity among school law, school systems, learning, mental health, and family systems. This expertise ensures that mental health services are effectively embedded into the school environment, enhancing both student outcomes and instructional effectiveness. As an integrated member of the district team, this position supports administrators and staff in coordinating resources, evaluating service effectiveness, and adjusting supports to meet the evolving needs of students. The role also strengthens collaboration with community providers to address more intensive or clinical mental health needs.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(Including but not limited to): Coordinate and oversee school-based mental health services for all students across the district Serve as the primary liaison between the district and community-based mental health providers delivering on-campus services Establish, manage, and monitor service contracts for external mental health providers Supervise and coordinate in-district mental health service delivery (district and contracted providers) Provide direct crisis intervention for students experiencing suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, or acute mental health distress, including risk assessments and safety planning Conduct threat assessments using evidence-based protocols in response to student threats Support school counselors and staff in managing high-risk students through consultation and collaboration Collaborate with Special Education teams and participate in meetings related to Individualized Education Program (IEP)s and Section 504 Plans Provide case management and coordination for students requiring intensive mental health services or placements Review referrals for intensive services to ensure Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) considerations and appropriate criteria are met Assist with transition planning for students entering or returning from residential or acute placements Maintain communication and collaboration between families, school staff, and mental health providers Serve as a district liaison for foster care, homelessness, and juvenile court involvement Coordinate district programs including truancy prevention, Second Chance programming, and participation in the Arkansas Preventive Needs Assessment (APNA) Collect and analyze data; prepare reports including case histories, assessments, and intervention outcomes Assess district needs and design, coordinate, and deliver professional development related to student mental health Coordinate district-wide suicide prevention efforts and training Provide training and resources to parents and families regarding school-based mental health services Support the development and implementation of district-wide mental health initiatives and prevention programs Perform other duties as assignedSPECIFIC
