POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION
DUTIES
AND REQUIREMENTS
Position Overview :
In this role, you will oversee the daily healthcare operations of the detention facility while ensuring residents receive safe, effective, and compliant medical and behavioral health services in accordance with government detention standards, healthcare regulations, and company policies. You will supervise healthcare administrative functions, coordinate medical operations, support clinical staff, and manage healthcare resources within a secure detention environment. This position requires strong leadership, organizational abilities, healthcare operational knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and high standards of resident care.
Responsibilities :
Oversee daily healthcare operations including medical services, behavioral health support, nursing activities, scheduling coordination, and resident healthcare administration. Supervise healthcare personnel and administrative staff while supporting staffing coordination, performance management, operational planning, and workflow oversight. Ensure healthcare services comply with government detention standards, HIPAA requirements, infection prevention procedures, clinical protocols, and applicable healthcare regulations. Coordinate resident medical appointments, specialty referrals, outside healthcare services, transportation arrangements, and continuity of care activities. Review healthcare documentation, operational reports, staffing records, incident reports, and compliance materials for accuracy and completeness. Maintain accountability for medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, healthcare equipment, operational resources, and healthcare-related procurement activities. Support audits, inspections, accreditation reviews, compliance assessments, and quality improvement initiatives related to healthcare operations and resident medical services. Coordinate communication between physicians, nurses, behavioral health personnel, detention leadership, transportation teams, outside providers, and government representatives regarding healthcare operations and resident wellness needs. Monitor healthcare staffing levels, operational performance, emergency preparedness activities, and clinical support functions to maintain uninterrupted healthcare services. Respond to operational healthcare concerns, resident medical emergencies, staffing shortages, compliance issues, or critical incidents requiring management oversight. Prepare operational summaries, staffing updates, healthcare reports, compliance documentation, and performance metrics for facility leadership review. Maintain professionalism, leadership, effective communication, confidentiality, and strong organizational skills while supporting safe and efficient healthcare operations within the detention facility.
Qualifications :
Must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration (or related field of study preferred). Must have a minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience. Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of management of programs and services experience. Experience in a detention, correctional, or prison environment preferred. Must possess and maintain a current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and if the HSA holds a clinical license, it is their responsibility to fulfill the obligations of their licensing or certifying body to ensure continued status. Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization. If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition. Must consent to fingerprinting. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening. Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening. Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations. Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment :
Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements :
Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
