$115,000 - $135,000 per year About the opportunity We're hiring for a Director of Crisis Services at a progressive nonprofit in Alameda, CA delivering clinically sophisticated mental health, early childhood education, and family support services to the local community. The organization offers a family-like work environment with a strong emphasis on self-care and professional growth. About the role The Crisis Services Director oversees programs supporting individuals and families experiencing urgent mental health needs. You will lead the Community Assessment Response Engagement (CARE) Team — a 24/7 on-call mental health consultation, case management, and therapy program that operates alongside the Alameda Fire Department (AFD) as first responder. You will also develop and launch a new Psychiatric Stabilization Team (PST), delivering commercial-insurance-funded crisis stabilization services to children and youth at home using a clinical wraparound model. This position requires an active California LCSW, as you may be called upon to provide emergency clinical consultation to AFD when evaluating whether someone meets criteria for a 5150 or 5585. Key responsibilities Clinical oversight and supervision Oversee day-to-day operations of the Crisis Services Program Provide clinical and case management supervision to staff and interns Consult on high-risk cases, critical incidents, and complex clinical situations Review trends from call reviews, QA processes, and incident reports Partner with
AFD CARE
Team on training, data collection, QI, and case conferencing Develop community partnerships to strengthen program offerings Clinical authority Serve as clinical authority for all crisis services programs Oversee suicide risk assessment, crisis response strategies, and client safety protocols Manage data oversight and write all funder-required program reports Provide emergency clinical consultation to AFD regarding 5150/5585 determinations Quality assurance and risk management Oversee clinical QA systems, documentation standards, and corrective action processes Participate in incident review and clinical compliance reporting Ensure alignment with AAS standards and California BBS requirements Training and leadership Lead onboarding and ongoing professional development training for staff and interns Advise senior leadership on clinical risk, staffing models, and program development Schedule Monday through Friday with some flexibility on start and end times. Occasional after-hours availability is needed when the on-call clinical supervisor requires backup or when AFD contacts you directly for a significant incident. These situations arise but are rare. Required qualifications Active, unrestricted California LCSW license 5 or more years of post-licensure clinical experience At least 2 years directly supervising staff providing behavioral health or crisis services Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and crisis intervention Strong skills in documentation and quality assurance Familiarity with California BBS supervision and documentation requirements Experience with clinical quality improvement systems or accreditation processes Completion of Cal
