Full Job Description Description:
The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative oversight to medical staff in an outpatient clinic setting and organization's special programs. This role ensures high-quality patient care, efficient clinic operations, staff competency, and compliance with clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Supervisor serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and liaison between providers, nursing leadership, care management teams, and support staff. This position provides clinical oversight and support for special programs, including Enhanced Care Management (ECM), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Program, Transition of Care (TOC), and Emergency Room (ER) Navigation.
Requirements:
Clinical Oversight Supervise and support medical staff in daily clinic and program operations. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and patient safety practices. Monitor quality of care and address clinical issues or concerns promptly. Assist with patient care as needed, including triage, procedures, and patient education within scope of practice. Staff Supervision and Development Schedule, assign, and coordinate medical staff to meet clinic and program operational needs. Train new staff and provide ongoing competency assessments. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and corrective action when necessary. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive workplace culture. Operational and Program Management Collaborate with clinic management and providers to improve workflow and patient throughput. Oversee rooming procedures, vital signs, documentation, and patient flow processes. Ensure proper use, inventory, and maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies. Support operational oversight of special programs including ECM, COPD, TOC, and ER Navigation. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Compliance, Documentation, and Program Oversight Ensure compliance with state practice acts, OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic policies and procedures. Monitor documentation accuracy in the electronic health record (EHR). Support audits, inspections, and accreditation processes as needed. Provide oversight of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program , including vaccine storage, handling, documentation, staff training, and compliance monitoring. Assist Lead Care Managers in the Enhanced Care Management (ECM) program , including participation in Interdisciplinary Care Team (ICT) meetings and auditing clinical documentation for compliance and quality standards. Support documentation and quality auditing for COPD, TOC, and ER Navigation program services. Communication and Leadership Serve as the primary point of contact for medical staff clinical concerns. Communicate effectively with providers, patients, and interdisciplinary teams. Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to policy development and clinic and program initiatives. Qualifications Education and Licensure Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license, as required by state regulations. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Experience Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Experience working with multidisciplinary clinical teams and population health programs strongly preferred. Skills and Competencies Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution abilities. Knowledge of clinic workflows, ambulatory care standards, and population health programs. Proficiency with EHR systems and basic computer applications. Ability to multitask and function effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and assist patients as needed. Exposure to clinical environments and bodily fluids while following standard precautions. Schedule and Work Environment Typically, Monday-Friday clinic hours, with occasional evenings or weekends as required by clinic operations. Fast-paced outpatient clinical and programmatic setting.
