The ideal candidate will assist in pre- and post-operative patient care, manage medical documentation, and support clinical procedures within a busy plastic surgery practice. This role requires strong knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and medical coding, with an emphasis on delivering exceptional patient service and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The Plastic Surgery Technician will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient care. Responsibilities Assist surgeons during procedures by preparing instruments and maintaining sterile environments Manage patient intake, including verifying insurance coverage and scheduling appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, and Eaglesoft Review and update medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations Perform medical coding usingCPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
codes for billing and documentation purposes Support documentation review to ensure completeness of patient charts and treatment plans Handle front desk duties including answering multi-line phones, greeting patients, and managing appointment scheduling with professionalism and courtesy Verify insurance benefits and process claims efficiently using dental or medical office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, procedures, and follow-up care in accordance with health information management standards Provide excellent patient service by addressing inquiries, explaining procedures, and ensuring a positive clinic experience Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing office supplies to ensure smooth clinic operations Qualifications Prior experience in a medical or dental office environment is preferred; clinic or hospital experience is advantageous Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, eClinicalWorks is highly desirable Knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification, and health information management standards Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to plastic surgery and related fields such as dental terminology if applicable Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with multi-line phone systems Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Outstanding communication skills with professional phone etiquette and patient service orientation Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations Previous experience in a plastic surgery or cosmetic clinic setting is preferred but not required This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic healthcare environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
