Director of Hospitality 6195 Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448 $67,913.45 - $81,788.23 a year - Full-time $67,913.45 - $81,788.23 a year - Full-time Director of Hospitality Position Overview Chateau Diana Winery is seeking an energetic, hands-on Director of Hospitality to lead our tasting room and hospitality operations. This is a working management position responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while driving Direct-to-Consumer sales through wine tastings, retail sales, wine club memberships, private events, and outstanding customer service. The Director of Hospitality is expected to lead by example, spending the majority of their time on the hospitality floor working alongside the team, coaching employees, interacting with guests, hosting tastings, and ensuring every visitor receives a memorable experience. This role combines leadership with active daily participation in tasting room operations. Working closely with ownership, the Director of Hospitality will help grow Chateau Diana's direct-to-consumer business while building a positive, energetic culture focused on hospitality, sales, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesHospitality Leadership Lead by example by working daily alongside the hospitality team. Personally greet guests, conduct wine tastings, assist with retail sales, and host VIP visitors and special events. Create a warm, welcoming, and service-focused environment for every guest. Inspire, coach, and motivate employees while maintaining high hospitality standards. Sales & Wine Club Growth Drive tasting room revenue through wine sales, retail merchandise, wine club memberships, and special events. Coach staff on sales techniques, wine education, and guest engagement. Develop fun and effective sales contests and incentive programs. Monitor daily sales results and adjust coaching to achieve monthly goals. Personally participate in club recruitment and premium wine sales. Team Leadership Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and mentor hospitality staff. Conduct regular coaching sessions and performance reviews. Hold weekly team meetings focused on sales, hospitality, safety, and new product education. Foster a positive, team-oriented culture built on accountability and recognition. Daily Operations Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, POS systems, and daily reporting. Ensure compliance with company policies and California labor laws. Maintain inventory levels for wine, retail merchandise, food items, and hospitality supplies. Oversee facility cleanliness and presentation to maintain Chateau Diana's high standards. Events & Hospitality Plan and oversee winery events, wine club events, private events, and community activities. Work alongside the hospitality team during events to ensure smooth execution and exceptional guest service. Represent Chateau Diana at off-site tastings and community events when needed. Wine Education Maintain extensive knowledge of Chateau Diana wines and current releases. Train staff on wine education, hospitality standards, and sales techniques. Ensure tasting menus and guest materials remain current. Safety & Facility Management Maintain a safe, clean, and organized hospitality environment. Conduct routine facility inspections. Partner with Human Resources to ensure compliance with all safety policies. Help protect winery assets, inventory, and equipment. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of winery, hospitality, restaurant, hotel, or retail management experience. Previous tasting room management experience strongly preferred. Proven ability to lead from the floor while motivating and developing a team. Strong sales background with a track record of achieving goals. Excellent communication and guest service skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and winery events. Experience with POS systems, Microsoft Office, Outlook, AMS, Vin65, Commerce7, WineDirect, or similar software is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and work on uneven surfaces. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and special events as business needs require. I would consider renaming the position to Hospitality & DTC Sales Manager or Director of Hospitality & Direct Sales . Those titles more clearly communicate that success is measured by tasting room sales and wine club growth while still conveying leadership, and they tend to attract candidates with stronger sales instincts than a traditional hospitality-only title.
