Position Summary The Rehab Supervisor provides operational and clinical leadership for their designated Rehabilitation program (Acute Care, IRF, Outpatient, Cardiac, Pulmonary, etc.) within Therapy Services. Serving as the Program leader for their designated rehabilitation program, this role ensures safe, effective, and high-quality rehabilitation services in alignment with CMS requirements, specific governing body certification standards and the organization's mission of advancing patient-centered care. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Serves as a frontline leader for designated rehabilitation service line, responsible for daily operations, compliance, and quality outcomes. Partners with Medical Directors, Manager and Director for oversight of clinical care, safety policies, plans of care and individualized treatment plans (ITPs). Supervises, mentors, and evaluates interdisciplinary team members, of their designated service line including RNs, Exercise Physiologists, PTs, OTs, SLPs, Respiratory Therapists, and support staff as applicable to their designated service line. Provide guidance to rehab administration team (PPS, CM, liaisons, SW, DCP) to ensure growth, efficient throughput, compliance and efficiency of the IRF program. Oversee the scheduler/authorization coordinator role to ensure timely patient scheduling and payer authorization. Develops and implements policies and workflows in accordance with specific governing body certification standards. Ensures safe and effective delivery of physician-prescribed plan of cares, exercise, education, and risk factor modification. Monitors various program capacities, session scheduling, and space utilization to maximize patient access. Leads efforts to reduce waiting times (goal≤30 days) and increase program completion rates (goal≥65%). Coordinates equipment maintenance, safety checks, and emergency preparedness (AED, O ₂ , crash cart). Maintains readiness for service line specific certification requirements, including emergency policies, staff competencies, and documentation standards (once certification achieved). Tracks and reports various
KPIs:
enrollment, completion, re-admissions, functional outcomes. Ensures compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, Title 22, and hospital policies. Provides education to patients, families, staff regarding various therapy service line goals, safety, and lifestyle modification. Collaborates with physicians, case management, and hospital leadership to optimize referrals and transitions of care. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary committees. Performs other duties as assigned. •Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years day-to-day leadership experience in case management and/or clinical admissions processes for IRF or minimum 5 years acute rehabilitation experience plus minimum 2 years day-to-day leadership preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Master's degree or professional degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, case management, or social work required. Reliable transportation and valid California driver's license required. Case management certification preferred. Minimum 3 years clinical experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, or acute cardiology preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in lean management systems and methods preferred. Familiarity with AACVPR standards, CARF, CMS guidelines, and hospital-based rehab operations preferred.
