Job Description

About Us:
The pediatric inpatient post-surgical unit, also known as Explorer, is a dynamic and fast-paced, 35-bed unit, specializing in post-surgical care for patients across various specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, cardiac, and neurology. With centralized monitoring, our dedicated staff ensures high-quality care for every patient, offering an excellent opportunity for nurses to acquire diverse skills due to the rapid turnover and patient variety. The unit also plays a crucial role in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), with 12 beds
  • 6 for seizure monitoring and 6 for surgical overflow cases.
Our EMU rooms are equipped with specialty equipment to monitor and visualize seizure activity, leading to improved treatment and better patient outcomes. Explorer takes pride in our team-focused culture, celebrated by receiving the 2021 Team Excellence award for delivering top-notch care. Thirty percent of our nurses are nationally certified displaying our commitment to professional development and maintaining a high standard of care. Job Summary:
This position is accountable for organizing non-patient care activities for the patient. Provides clerical support to the unit staff and physicians, coordinates referrals, and manages the patient medical records. Qualifications Education High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required) Licenses and Certifications CHUC
  • Certified Health Unit Coordinator
  • NAHUC
  • National Association of Health Unit Coordinators (preferred) Work Experience Minimum two (2) years Clerical and/or customer service and/or healthcare experience (required) Skills and Abilities Bilingual Skills Preferred.
