Job Description
We are seeking an Interim BCBA Provider/Consultant to assist with initial ABA clinic setup, credentialing/enrollment support, and clinical program development. During the interim phase, this role will serve as a key clinical and compliance leader to help build the foundational framework for our organization. For the right candidate, this temporary or consulting role may have the potential to transition into a permanent Clinical Director / Qualified Autism Service (QAS) Provider position once all required credentialing is complete and business needs are confirmed. If transitioned to the permanent QAS Provider role, the individual will be responsible for the clinical design, supervision, and oversight of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other behavioral health treatment services. Any permanent role would be subject to final approval, applicable employment requirements, and mutually agreed terms. This role may be structured as a temporary employee, consultant, or contract-to-hire arrangement depending on the final scope of work, classification analysis, and business needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Phase 1: Interim / Setup Duties (Current Need) Partner with the Executive Director to support the organization's Medi-Cal enrollment and payer-readiness process. Review, develop, and approve clinical policies and procedures to ensure organizational compliance with documentation, supervision, quality assurance, and billing standards. Assist in selecting and configuring Electronic Health Record (EHR) software and data collection tools. Develop templates for individualized behavioral treatment plans that are evidence-based, person-centered, and tailored to the member's clinical presentation. Maintain awareness of applicable Medi-Cal, managed care, and other payer requirements affecting future service delivery. Participate in periodic planning meetings regarding clinical operations, staffing readiness, and program development. Phase 2: Potential Permanent Clinical Duties (Upon Clinic Opening) Conduct behavioral-analytic assessments and other clinically appropriate evaluations to identify strengths, needs, target behaviors, and skill deficits. Provide observation and direction to QAS Professionals and QAS Paraprofessionals to ensure services are implemented accurately. Ensure delegated services are performed only by individuals who are appropriately qualified, trained, and supervised for their assigned role. Provide clinical guidance, feedback, and support to staff regarding case conceptualization, intervention strategies, and documentation standards. Provide parent, guardian, and caregiver training to support generalization of skills. Complete timely, accurate, and objective documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, supervision notes, and progress updates. Assist with authorization requests, concurrent reviews, peer-to-peer reviews, audits, and appeals as needed. Qualifications Required Active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential in good standing. Master's or Doctoral degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Medicine, or a related clinical field. Possess an active Type 1 National Provider Identifier (NPI) and be eligible to enroll (or currently enrolled) as a rendering provider in California Medi-Cal via the PAVE portal. Ability to meet applicable Qualified Autism Service Provider requirements for the intended payer and service model. Successful completion of background screening, exclusion checks, and any other screening required by law, payer, or organizational policy. Preferred Experience supporting clinic startup, payer enrollment, credentialing, or program development.
Highly Preferred:
Experience with Medi-Cal Fee-For-Service, Medi-Cal managed care, regional center-related service environments, TRICARE, or other payer authorization and documentation requirements. Knowledge of audit readiness, utilization review, and appeals processes. Experience supervising mid-level staff, behavior technicians, or paraprofessionals in an ABA or behavioral health setting. Professional Standards Maintains confidentiality and protects client information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and organizational policy. Maintains professional boundaries and ethical conduct at all times. Important Note This position does not guarantee permanent employment. Any transition into a permanent Clinical Director or Qualified Autism Service Provider role will depend on credentialing/enrollment status, business needs, candidate performance, final approval, and mutually agreed terms.
