Job Description

The Clinical Manager Postpartum Mother Baby Services opportunity is a high impact leadership role for an experienced obstetric nursing professional ready to guide postpartum, nursery, and lactation services within a thriving acute care hospital environment. As Nurse Manager, Postpartum Unit, this role joins a highly respected, award recognized acute care hospital known for clinical excellence, community trust, and innovation in women's and family health. The Nurse Manager, Mother Baby Unit will oversee a busy acute care mother-baby unit within a 400+ bed general acute care hospital, supporting approximately 350-400 births per month . This Baby-Friendly designated unit is currently in a redesignation year and is actively engaged in initiatives such as human milk donor program selection, reducing primary C-section rates, timely treatment projects, and A3 performance improvement work. The unit is notable for maintaining 95%+ staffing ratios, creating a stable, high functioning clinical environment for families and staff alike. In the Nurse Manager, Mother Baby Unit role, leadership is collaborative and well supported. This position works alongside peer leaders including an OB Technician Manager and an OB Emergency Department Manager, all reporting to the RN Director of Labor & Delivery. Responsibilities include clinical operations, staff engagement, quality outcomes, and day-to-day leadership of postpartum, nursery, and lactation services. The role benefits from a diverse, friendly nursing team, pediatric residents onsite, 24/7 physician coverage, and seamless access to higher-acuity neonatal care through an integrated Level I NICU with a Level
III NICU
nearby. A structured transition is in place, with the outgoing leader remaining onsite as a mentor during the handoff period.
