The Clinical Manager works closely with physicians, PAs, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers to maintain a well-organized, compliant, and patient-centered environment. This role combines leadership, administrative, and clinical expertise, and the Clinical Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the healthcare facility or practice adheres to industry standards, legal requirements, and best practices. This role is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of a healthcare facility, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care while maintaining a positive, efficient, and compliant clinical environment. This role requires a mix of clinical expertise, management skills, and the ability to work closely with both clinical and administrative teams. The Clinical Manager leads efforts to improve patient care, optimize clinical operations, and maintain regulatory compliance, all while supporting the professional development of the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
Supervise Clinical Staff:
Manage and lead clinical teams, including nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical support staff. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to improve clinical skills and enhance team performance.Staff Scheduling:
Oversee the scheduling of clinical staff to ensure that appropriate coverage is maintained at all times and that staff work hours comply with relevant labor laws and facility policies.Performance Management:
Conduct regular evaluations of clinical staff performance, provide constructive feedback, address performance issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.Staff Training and Development:
Organize and implement training programs for clinical staff to ensure they are up to date with the latest clinical practices, technologies, and compliance regulations. Foster aPositive Work Environment:
Promote a supportive, respectful, and collaborative work culture, ensuring the team operates cohesively and effectively.Clinical Operations Management:
Ensure Efficient Patient Care:
Oversee day-to-day clinical operations to ensure that patients receive timely, safe, and effective care. Ensure the clinical staff follows established protocols and best practices.Develop and Implement Policies and Procedures:
Work with senior leadership to develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, and state-specific regulations).Quality Assurance:
Monitor and evaluate the quality of care being provided by clinical staff. Implement continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives to enhance patient care and clinical operations.Clinical Resource Management:
Ensure that clinical equipment, tools, and supplies are adequately stocked, well-maintained, and available for use. Manage inventory and ensure cost-effective use of resources.Patient Care Coordination:
Patient Satisfaction:
Oversee patient care protocols to ensure that patients receive excellent service. Address patient concerns, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally to improve patient satisfaction.Coordinate Patient Flow:
Ensure smooth patient flow throughout the clinical process—from check-in to check-out—by overseeing appointment scheduling, triage, and treatment areas. Ensure Compliance withTreatment Protocols:
Ensure that all clinical staff adhere to standardized care protocols and maintain accurate patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that the clinical department complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including healthcare-specific laws (e.g., HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA). Implement best practices to ensure compliance.Risk Management:
Identify and address potential clinical risks, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to mitigate risk and provide safe patient care. Collaboration withHealthcare Providers and Administration:
Collaborate withPhysicians and Providers:
Work closely with physicians, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers to ensure that patient care is coordinated and that the clinical team is aligned with the provider's treatment plans.Administrative Support:
Collaborate with administrative staff, including front-office teams and management, to ensure the smooth running of the entire healthcare facility. Collaborate with Clinical Director and leadership to recruit, interview, and train new clinical staffBudget Management:
Assist with the budgeting process for clinical operations, including staffing, equipment, and supplies. Ensure that clinical resources are used effectively and efficiently within the allocated budget.Technology and Data Management:
Electronic Health Record (EHR)Management:
Ensure the accurate and timely documentation of patient information in the Electronic Health Record system. Oversee the maintenance of patient records and ensure they are accessible for clinical review. Utilize Data forDecision-Making:
Use clinical data, performance metrics, and patient feedback to make informed decisions about improving patient care, staff efficiency, and operational effectiveness.Performance Requirements:
Clinical Skills:
Strong understanding of clinical protocols, patient care standards, and medical terminology. Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and other clinical software.Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop staff. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and administrative staff. Ability to resolve conflicts, make decisions under pressure, and provide constructive feedback.Organizational and Analytical Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to analyze clinical performance data and implement improvement initiatives.Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking:
Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement solutions to enhance clinical processes and patient care Strong decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations.EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or healthcare-related field (required).EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a clinical setting (e.g., hospital, clinic, outpatient facility), including at least 1-2 years in a management or supervisory role. Experience in managing a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff.REQUIREMENTS
