Job Summary In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Clinical Education and Assistant Director of Clinical Education, monitor and manage the third and fourth year curriculum for students pursuing the DO degree at COMP-Northwest (transitioning to its new name, the Heatherington College of Osteopathic Medicine (HCOM)). This includes working closely with the Rotations Coordinators in the COMP-Northwest (HCOM) Department of Clinical Education, and assigning tasks and work projects as needed, collaboration in the development of core third and fourth year curricula (rotation sites), and collaboration with all other pertinent departments that contribute toward the third and fourth year WesternU/COMP and COMP-Northwest (HCOM) curriculum. Skills:
Good computer skills necessary to set up document formats in Microsoft Office, and any other software programs required by the position and familiarity with the use of the Internet.
Experience with calculator, fax, copy machine, printers and telephone operation.
Abilities:
Ability to interact effectively with administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside contacts. Exercise good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications Education:
BA or BS degree required.
Any combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job in a satisfactory manner.
Experience:
3 or more years administrative; 2 years experience in a medical environment; and 2 years in an academic environment.
Management or supervisory experience required.
Preferred Qualifications Education:
Master's degree preferred.
Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities Oversees training and distribution of work projects to Rotations Coordinators. Determines administrative priorities, schedules and assigns work to non-exempt staff. Conducts interviews and hiring of staff employees; administers corrective action when appropriate and within COMP and University policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Assists Assistant Director with student academic performance evaluations; responsible for grade entry, grade audits and reporting grades to the Registrar; establishes files and follow-up procedures on students, preceptors, clinics and hospitals.
Key Responsibilities Works with the Associate Dean in collecting, creating and maintaining educational databases. Oversees the clinical education portion of Didactic Weeks, rotations orientation and rotations lottery process.
Key Responsibilities Maintains student evaluations of clinical training sites and provides the information to the Associate Dean, Assistant Director, Site Dean, Dean, assistant/associate deans and department chairs, when relevant.
Key Responsibilities Supervises the scheduling of OMS III and OMS IV students; ensures there are no conflicts between the students, medical facilities and preceptors; resolves problems that arise between the students, preceptors and medical facilities; ensures the department secures students a new rotation site in the event of a site cancellation; assist students modifying a rotation and students who are off-track.
Key Responsibilities Effectively manages a team of Rotations Coordinators; Ensures successful completion of coordinator tasks including but not limited to:
Verification of rotation applications by ensuring all documentation is received, such as, recommendation letters, transcripts, immunization records, etc.
Coordination of site insurance certificates that show that students have the appropriate malpractice coverage while in training.
Ensures that all pertinent information for the rotation request is complete; oversees the distribution of materials to the appropriate training sites. Resolves scheduling problems between medical facilities and students. Key Responsibilities Coordinates with CDHP for testing of students requiring accommodations.
Key Responsibilities Serves as a member of the COMP-Northwest (HCOM) Students in Greatest Need (SIGN) Committee.
Key Responsibilities Other duties as assigned.
Posting Details Continued Work Schedule 40 hours per week.
This position requires a minimum of 3 days on campus per week.
Some evenings and weekends may be required. In-person attendance is expected on dates required for student trainings, workshops, etc.
