This position advances the university vision, mission, and strategic plan in relation to academic affairs activities leadership, and support for academic policy and procedure development and implementation for the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology within the clinical settings.
Qualifications:
1. Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy or a related Master's degree in an appropriate discipline. 2. Licensed with clinical supervisory credentials as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of California. 3. Seasoned clinical experience in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy or Professional Clinical Counseling. 4. Experience in speaking and teaching to groups of students. 5. Skilled at facilitating communication across different community areas. 5. Demonstrated team building and team leadership ability. 6. Budget experience within organizations.

Essential Functions:
1. Interview and secure all practicum sites; meet with and verify supervisor credentials; review, negotiate, and renew existing contracts, initiate new contracts, and discontinue poorly serviced contracts; conduct in-person practicum visits to verify setting, location, and safety for the trainees. Assure the site is within normative guidelines for a safe work environment (OSHA, HIPAA) 2. Serve as an ongoing practicum site liaison; build good working relationships and communication with sites and coordinators; provide support throughout practicum with the intent to secure quality long
  • term, professional contracts; troubleshoot on-site problems that may cause legal/ethical issues for our students and/or hurt our working relationship with the site; quarterly checks-ins with sites on contract obligations and progress of trainees; manage and track supervisor evaluations and BBS documentation 3.
Work in close collaboration with the Department Director and other university administration 4. Create and collaborate with marketing for needed materials in community site outreach 5. Listen to inter-faculty and student-faculty concerns and complaints relevant to the clinical program and assist in finding solutions 6. Create and Coordinate Practicum Fair; marketing/food services; facilities coordination; supervisor/site coordination; student follow-up after the selection process 7. Ready students for practicum fair, interviews, and the practicum year by actively developing and participating in the Practicum I workshop 8. Provide meetings each term with practicum students for issues review and documentation audit 9. Have weekly office hours on campus for students and trainee support 10. Implement student morale and MACP community building/bonding interaction events 11. Teach ongoing practicum classes for trainee management and career development 12. Speak in a few Jr. cohort courses including one in Term 1 to provide program expectations, consistency, and build rapport/trust with the students needed for retention and development 13. Provide ongoing clinical support for Practicum students in year two 14. Intervene quickly with communication, meetings, and ongoing mentoring of practicum students through trouble spots that are reported from practicum site supervisors or self-reported by students 15. Co-create a Practicum curriculum with learning objectives and goals for each term; quality documentation; assessment, treatment planning, referrals and working with wrap-around services, advocacy; legal and ethical, red flags, and consultation; crisis assessments, CPS/APS reporting competency, and Tarasoff; countertransference management and self-awareness development; self of the therapist and self-care; process of treatment and termination; public and clinical presentations; groups competency; diagnostic skills, differentials, and mapping 16. Provide clinical technique demonstrations in Practicum class; implement roleplays and practice with immediate group feedback; watch and review clinical video submissions, providing constructive feedback, and strengths highlights 17. Support and assist in developing clinical capstone projects; help recruit Capstone Committee panel members; review and assist in capstone proposals; assist on the Capstone Committee for evaluation and feedback; create a Capstone Guide/Handbook if not already created 18. Assist in hiring of adjunct faculty, work with to provide program consistency in the areas of ;diversity competence; ongoing development of self of the therapist and awareness of countertransference issues; ethics in regards to personal faith and BBS standards of scope of practice; specifics of learning structure and tools for adult learners (learning is different developmentally at this age and should be addressed accurately); standards of APA and academic research.; documentation and clinical standards consistent with the BBS 19. Verify and track ongoing personal therapy hours of the students for timely compliance 20. Assist in MACP disciplinary actions and committees when needed
